Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani Receives Bill Gates at the 23rd Doha Forum 2025
On December 6, 2025, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, welcomed American billionaire Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, during the latter’s visit to participate in the 23rd edition of the Doha Forum 2025. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation, particularly regarding key topics featured on the forum’s agenda.
In his opening speech, Bill Gates emphasized that “the partnership between the Gates Foundation and Qatar has contributed to supporting health programs, development, and the fight against poverty.” Gates announced the launch of “a new partnership with the Qatar Fund for Development to boost economic empowerment and support farmers, as well as educational and health projects.” He also commended Qatar’s role in providing vaccines and backing initiatives such as Gavi and the Global Fund, highlighting that “joint efforts have reduced child mortality from 10 million to about 5 million annually, with accelerating contributions from technologies and artificial intelligence in advancing global healthcare.”
The event reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to driving innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development, reinforcing Qatar’s ongoing support for international health and humanitarian initiatives.
