Etihad Rail Confirms New Passenger Stations Ahead of 2026 Launch
The UAE’s highly anticipated Etihad Rail passenger network has taken a major step forward with the announcement of additional station locations and route plans ahead of its planned launch later this year. The national rail project — previously used solely for freight — is transitioning into a full passenger service set to connect key cities and regions across all seven emirates.
Officials confirmed seven new stations that will complement four earlier announced hubs, bringing the initial passenger network to 11 stops nationwide. These stations span from Al Sila near the Saudi border to communities in Abu Dhabi’s hinterland, Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah on the east coast.
The confirmed stations include suburban and regional locations designed to boost accessibility and commuter options outside of major urban cores. While the full timetable and ticket pricing details are still being finalised, Etihad Rail has stated it intends to begin phased operations throughout 2026, with safety and passenger experience as priorities.
The passenger service will form a critical backbone for inter-emirate travel, significantly reducing journey times compared with road transport. The flagship connection between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is projected to take under an hour, and services will eventually extend further east to Fujairah on the Arabian Gulf coast.
With this expansion, Etihad Rail marks a milestone in national infrastructure, enhancing connectivity for daily commuters, tourists and business travellers alike by linking diverse communities and commercial centres across the UAE
